CICA Excellence Award Winners

Launa Williams, Steve Gonano, Mark Happer, Danny Black

In 2024, Launa William, Steve Gonano, Mark Happer and Danny Black were recognised for their work as part of the Queensland Mobile Crane Code of Practice Working Group.  They received an Excellence Award in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to improving industry standards.

This team has made significant strides in advancing safety, operational clarity, and best practices within the crane industry, setting a benchmark not just in Queensland but nationally.


Brian Sheedy, Andrew Taylor, Tom Clark, David Solomon

In 2024 industry leaders Brian Sheedy, Andrew Taylor, Tom Clark and David Solomon were recognised for their work on the NSW Dogging and Rigging Guide. 

Together with CICA CEO Brandon Hitch, they gave their time and expertise to see this critical guide completed. Designed to enhance safety in high-risk industries, the Dogging and Rigging Guide has set a benchmark for best practices in dogging and rigging operations across the country.

The guide has earned accolades for its practical application and positive impact on the industry, reinforcing a collaborative commitment to high safety standards.


Jon Dunn

In 2022, the CICA Board recognised Jon Dunn with an Excellence Award for his contribution to changes with Work Safe Victoria. 

Wadonga based Dunn’s Twin City Cranes (DTCC) were issued with a Prohibition Notice by Worksafe Victoria. DTCC successfully appealed the notice and consultation with the regulator has allowed CICA to form a steering committee and discussions with Work Safe Victoria resulted in changes to the requirements of work boxes.


Simon Buxton

In 2022, the CICA Board recognised Simon Buxton with an Excellence Award. Simon and the Department of State Growth team stood out for the development, implementation and proliferation of the Heavy Vehicle Access Management System.

This innovative work has provided enormous benefit to the crane industry through the significant reduction in need for road access permits as well as transparency and certainty in road access. Along with a large reduction in resources required for the crane industry, the Heavy Vehicle Access Management System has afforded greater flexibility in crane selection and enabled the crane industry to service the community more efficiently.
