Transport for NSW has published a new SPV 55 tonne network under the New South Wales Class 1 4-axle and 5-axle All Terrain Mobile Crane Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice (see below).
The Notice provides approved access for eligible 5 axle cranes, up to 55 tonnes. The network gives assurance of access and routes to support the movement of these specialist cranes essential to construction, utilities, and emergency response while reducing the need to strip equipment to meet mass limits.
CICA is continuing to work with Transport for NSW to improve access on key corridors identified by CICA members. Assets managed by rail infrastructure managers currently show as restricted (no access) on this network. Note consultations with the department are ongoing and restrictions will be removed from the network map as assessments are completed and approvals received.
We strongly recommend operators review the updated Notice, Operator’s Guide and the National Network Map in detail for any conditions that may apply.
