Please find attached information issued from the RMS for your information.

Dear Operator

The ‘Additional Access Conditions for oversize and overmass heavy vehicles and loads’ which form part of the Class 1 access permit conditions for travel on Roads and Maritime Services managed roads has been updated. The updated document can be viewed on the Roads and Maritime website at: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/business-industry/heavy-vehicles/road-access/restricted-access-vehicles/oversize-overmass.html

Version 1.1 of the ‘Additional Access Conditions for oversize and overmass heavy vehicles and loads’ has been updated to make the following changes:

· Condition 8 has been updated to limit the application of the condition to no travel over roads affected by floods, earthquakes, submergence and mining subsidence. The condition previously also restricted travel over newly formed and repaired roads.

· Condition 16 has been updated to reduce the width requirement for when a Class 1 operator must contact the M2 Motorway from equal to or greater than 4.3 metres wide to greater than 3.5 metres wide at least 5 working days before travel due to rolling lane closures on the M2 Motorway associated with construction works for the NorthConnex project. Contact details are on the Roads and Maritime website at: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/business-industry/heavy-vehicles/road-access/restricted-access-vehicles/oversize-overmass.html#Contactingmotorwayoperators.

· Introduction of new condition 17 which requires a Class 1 vehicle exceeding 3.5 metres wide travelling on Pennant Hills Road (M1 interchange to M2 interchange) and the M1 Motorway (Pennant Hills Road interchange to David Edgeworth Drive overpass at Hornsby) to contact the Pennant Hills Road Project Control Office at least 5 working days before travel due to rolling lane closures on the Pennant Hills Road and the M1 Motorway associated with construction works. Contact details are on the Roads and Maritime website at: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/business-industry/heavy-vehicles/road-access/restricted-access-vehicles/oversize-overmass.html#Contactingmotorwayoperators.

· Updated pilot graph for Class 1 load carrying vehicles travelling in the daytime and night time to streamline the pilot requirements to make them clearer, more user-friendly and more consistent with other jurisdictions. For example, in the daytime a pilot vehicle is not required under the updated ‘Additional Access Conditions for oversize and overmass heavy vehicles and loads’ until a load carrying vehicles exceeds 26 metres in length (previously 25 metres in length).

· Reintroduction of additional night time pilot requirements for Class 1 vehicles exceeding 3.5 metres travelling on the Great Western Highway between the Nepean River and Marangaroo.
